Pegasus and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers.

Pegasus Riding for the Disabled is an approved, registered provider of NDIS supports for the participation in community, social and civic activities support cluster. All of the horse-facilitated therapy programs that Pegasus provides are considered “formal supports” for people with disability. These supports are currently funded by a combination of grants, generous donations from our community and the modest fees charged to families.

It is important to consider Pegasus Riding for the Disabled when developing your NDIS plans. If therapeutic horse-facilitated programs are deemed appropriate supports and approved within your NDIS plan, your participant will then be able to access the full range of funding available. If horse-facilitated therapy programs are not deemed appropriate for your participant through the NDIS; then alternative payment options will be available.

To assist you with your NDIS planning, we have included some information that outlines the goals, objectives, and anticipated outcomes of your current program.

Pegasus fully supports the NDIS philosophy of ‘choice and control’, and we encourage families, carers and participants to talk to us about how we can help you meet your NDIS goals and objectives.

For participants wishing to include Pegasus in their plan, the following documents will provide helpful information for your planning meetings.
